On 28 February 2022, the International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor, Mr Karim Khan QC, announced his decision to seek authorisation to open an investigation into the situation in Ukraine. As at 29 April 2022, Mr Khan’s Office has received referrals of the situation in Ukraine from 43 ICC State Parties (including Australia) which will enable his Office to investigate past and present allegations of war crimes, crimes against humanity or genocide committed on any part of the territory of Ukraine by any person.

The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) is assisting displaced Ukrainians coming to Australia. It coordinates a large team of volunteers providing accommodation, counselling, financial, humanitarian, IT, legal, medical aid, etc to support those Ukrainians in most need.  The AFUO is the peak body for 22 community organisations throughout Australia. It is widely regarded as the body representing the Ukrainian community in Australia and Ukraine.  It is also a member of the Ukrainian World Congress, the peak body for Ukrainian organisations in the world diaspora.
